    Powerful!

I have used the chainsaw only once. I am impressed how powerful it is. Big fan of EGO tools. Used 7.5 Ah battery.

    Ego for the Win

I had a Silver Maple removed. Per our contract, the company chipped all it could and left the larger logs and trunk for me to deal with.I bucked (cut to useable size) the logs with my 14 and 18-inch Ego chainsaws. They worked great. Most of the rounds and chunks were already picked up by many people for their fire pits or furnaces.I knew the 5-6 foot diameter trunk would be more difficult. I ordered the Ego 20-inch saw expecting the extra 2 inches and more powerful motor would do the job.I was right. The 20-inch saw tore through the trunk creating over 100 gallons of wood chips/dust. I had to reduce the trunk to about 25% of its starting size so the City would pick it up.I used 3 - 7.5 Ah and 5 - 5.0 Ah batteries with 3 quick chargers. As soon as I depleted a battery I put it on a charger. I limited myself to 3 hours at a time and the 8 batteries were able to keep up. Do not expect to use this saw hard with only 1 battery. To get full speed out of it you need a 6.0 Ah or greater battery.I was very happy I bought the 20-inch saw although I think the 18-inch saw would have been able to do the job but would have taken longer. This 20-inch saw is heavy with the 7.5 Ah batteries but is manageable in vertical cuts where its weight provides a downward force on the chain. Horizontal cuts were tiring.

Best chainsaw I have ever used- pay no mind to the silly negative reviews

Unlike many electrics, this thing has a ton of power, even more than gas-powered. This matters because places a normal chainsaw gets pinched and stops, this one can power through. It also doesn't overheat, doesn't put out fumes, and starts with the touch of a button. It makes you much more efficient.Let me say a bit about batteries- I did use a slightly stronger one than recommended (10ah), not sure if that matters. But it lasted about an hour. In response to the review that needed to change battery every two cuts, mine did two whole trees on one battery, plus a little into a third. These were 30 foot pines with 15-18 inch trunks. I cut off every bough and cut logs into one foot long sections. Again, that's two entire trees on one battery. From my experience, that would be about three tanks of gas. Granted, if you only have one battery and a very big job to do, you'll need to take a lunch break while you charge. I suspect that reviewer may have bad batteries or vastly over-tightened their chain. In response to the review about 69 drive links on the chain, it is true that that is not standard, but the writer VASTLY exaggerates the problem. They are not hard to find. Amazon sells them. I think the reviewer was just in a complaining mood when they found out that the normal 20 inch chain they bought didn't fit. But also, as an environmentally friendly option, don't forget that lots of hardware stores do chain sharpening too!
