Works great . Good cut, battery life and very light compared to old Toro gas “mower”

I really wanted to like it

I've got about 10 mows with this mower and I just can't recommend it. I have a small yard, the lot is 10,000 sq feet but about 4500 of that is lawn. The grass is Kentucky Bluegrass with no weeds and the lawn is relatively flat.I got rid of my old MY2000 Craftsman 21" push mower to purchase this one as I was just kind of done dealing with gas, oil changes and tuneups on it and it was starting to smoke. 24 years with the same mower is pretty good.Overall I like how light the mower is, how easily maneuverable it is and the ease of use. The motor seems powerful and overall it's more quiet than my old gas mower. And honestly I like the way it looks. However, the cut quality is driving me nuts in both the bagging configuration and the mulching configuration. It will leave random blades of uncut grass, a lot more than it should. And, for what ever reason, it will leave a string of piled up cut grass on both sides of the mower deck. Because of this I have to go over the lawn twice, which is something I never had to do with my old gas mower.I've used both the mulching blade for mulching and bagging and I've used the high lift blade for both mulching and bagging and they make no difference in the cut quality. I've also sharpened the blades to a nice sharp edge and still no change. I've tried different deck heights too and that doesn't work either. And I keep the blade area of the deck clean after each mow as well as wash out the bag.I don't use the self-propelled feature and have even tried walking extremely slowly and although that does help with the random uncut blades, it still doesn't help with the piled up cut grass lines. My suspicion is that it's a combination of the airflow design of the deck underneath along with the motor RPM's maybe not being fast enough. In addition it doesn't have the same amount of suction that my old mower had. I could use the right side of the old mower to suck in grass along fences, trees, posts and etc. when I didn't want to weed whack, but this mower barely sucks in the grass.I will probably finish out this cutting season with the Ego and then look for another mower in the Fall.EDIT: I wanted to add that I use two 10Ah batteries with the mower and don't have any issues with them. I can currently get two full mows out of a battery before it needs charging and that's using the high lift blade. In addition I also have the Ego weed whacker and blower and they work perfectly. I have no issues with them at all.

    Bullseye!

First, a bit of history - the unfiltered exhaust of a gas mower always made me ill fast so I opted for a push mower back in the day, even with a pretty big yard. When corded electric mowers came along, I jumped. Once you get the hang of managing the cord, it works pretty well. Back in 2017, I bought a cordless mower. After struggling with first mow, took it back and bought another corded mower. Before my first mow with the EGO, I was super concerned about battery life. I bought the package with the 2 10Ah batteries and fast charger. Charged the batteries up and installed the high lift lower blade. Front and back yards add up to about a quarter acre. I chose to not use the self propulsion. The EGo is surprisingly nimble for its weight and easy to push. Finished all in 45 minutes less time with ease. High lift blade picked up tons of loose leaves too. Emptied about 2x the amount of clippings as usual. On top of it all, used only about 25% juice. I put the battery back in the charger before I edged and cleaned up. By the time I was done, it was full. All I got to say is wow. Comparing to the Tesla seems spot on after this first mow.Having the extra battery and fast charger, I immediately bought the backpack blower to replace the old B&D corded one I have owned going on 30 years now. Refuses to quit, but is heavier than all get-out and I am an old dude now.Hope this review helps.

    Goodbye Gasoline

I don't have a dainty little suburban lawn to mow. I have about 3 acres of hilly, rutted, sometimes overgrown Appalachian field around my house. I've always resisted riding mowers simply because cutting the grass is such good exercise, but I've always used gas-powered beasts for the job. But...I've had an EGO chainsaw and trimmer for years and have been very impressed with them, so after watching dozens of Youtube videos and reading reviews of this mower, I took the chance and got it.First impressions - I love it. On the first session with a brand new, freshly charged 10Ah battery, I wore out before the battery did. (Hey, I'm 69 years old. Gimme a break.) After a full hour of mowing the battery had just dropped to the 20% mark, so I have no doubt it would have made it the promised 75 minutes (if I'd been up to it myself). And having a second battery charging up and ready means I'll never have to worry about it.I was using the mower in the setup it ships with - mulching blade and plug, and the grass looks perfect. I understand that using the "extended runtime" blade should make the battery go even further. I'll try that next time. The EGO is much quieter, lighter, and more maneuverable than my Husqvarna mower and, on first impression, more powerful. The self-propulsion got me up hills with no effort, and the mower is light enough that I didn't really even need to engage the propulsion on level runs.I have only two minor gripes.1) If you look closely at a photo showing the bottom of the mower housing, you'll see lots of little baffles and crevices where cut grass accumulates. This makes scraping the bottom of the mower off a bit aggravating. No big deal but still - I wish they'd made that a smoother surface.2) The EGO mobile app that should monitor the battery status on my phone while it's charging has so far failed to connect to my wireless network. I've followed directions exactly, and a quick google search tells me there are plenty of others who've had the same problem. Not a major issue (it's easy to see the charging status on the charger itself) but still, they need to work on that.Other than that, I'm much impressed. I will not miss dealing with gasoline, oil, air filters and spark plugs. Well done, EGO.
