I have never used a chain saw before and this EGO chain saw made it easy to use, the instructions and safety information helped me feel comfortable using it, and the battery outlasted me. I had several Carolina pine trees come down in the recent ice storm, one of which came down on a fence. I spent several hours cutting the limbs and tree up to get it off the fence and had no problems with the chain saw, nor with the power. The battery was only down to half level when I finished with that tree, and I myself was out of steam. I highly recommend this item, especially for anyone who's never used a chain saw. It's not nearly as loud as a gas powered chain saw either, which was a plus in my book.

I have only had this saw a few weeks so the 5th star is missing, but will be earned with longevity of the tool. Cuts beautifully, starts easily and the tensioning system is both intuitive and effective. I use a 10 Ah battery for my mower (the 2150) so the same battery was used in the saw and after 1 hr + of cutting we were at ~50% battery power and still ripping.
I have not attempted to sharpen the chain yet.
Please, use the highest Ah battery you can afford. It isn't worth piddling around with the 2.5 or 5 in my opinion unless you have multiples or expect a very short job. The 10 Ah has yet to let me down. Cheers.

Bought new and after less than an hour of use, it just doesnt cut through the wood. I've tried adjusting the chain tension as recommended in their video plus tensioning it in both directions (from more loose to tighter). It barely makes any progress when trying to cut through mulberry and only throws out small shavings. Borrowed a neighbors 10" Worx corded electric chainsaw and it chewed right through the branch. Not sure what is going on here but if EGO support is unable to resolve, will try to return. The Worx 10" corded elctric chainsaw seriously outperformed this EGO 18" chainsaw at less than 1/3 the price. Really disappointed as it is my first EGO product that can't do the job (have 1st gen mower, 650cfm blower, & trimmer).

I was in need of a chainsaw and was debating on gas or battery. We have 19 trees On a acre of property, constantly having Limbs on the ground and some of the trees are old and time to cut them down. I purchased the Ego 18 inch chainsaw. Out of the box there was no assembly to do, basically just had to charge the battery, add bar chain oil and go to work. I was able to cut down two trees that included cutting the branches off and cutting up the big stuff for firewood. I was blown away by the performance and durability of this chainsaw. Oh I forgot to mention I was able to cut both trees on one battery charge. The only problem was the chain did not stay lubricant, other than that it’s a good product

I needed a second battery so I could finish mowing my yard. The cost of the saw with a battery was not much more than a battery by itself so I figured why not just get it. This week a dead tree fell and stopped just short of my fence. The tree was about 15 inches in diameter and the saw had no problem cutting through it. The saw was relatively quiet and easy to use and I was happy to not have to pull start it. The chain stop lever is a little flimsy but not a big issue for the type of cutting I will be doing. I went through the 5 AH battery before I was finished though.
