Just got a hold of this year’s new EGO single stage snowblower from Acme Tools. It’s not snow season in Northeast Ohio yet, so as such I haven’t been able to test this new blower. But my initial thoughts are very positive. This is EGO’s 4th generation single stage snowblower, and I think this one offers improvements over all the prior models. First off, there are finally adjustable skid shoes for uneven pavement or cracks in driveways/sidewalks. This alone is a huge improvement in my opinion and is an update most other single stage snowblowers need. Second there is now a handle mounted pitch control, along with the chute direction control. This helps because you never need to step away from the controls to make adjustments. Another big upgrade are 9 inch ball bearing wheels. The larger wheels should improve maneuverability, and I was super surprised to find these wheels ball bearing supported. I’ve not seen that in any other single stage blower. There are heated hand warmers, not sure I’ll use them but they are a nice feature. I also noticed the snow shoot is steel and not plastic like on the other models. EGO advertises 50% more power than their prior model, which I have used and found it worked well. So this new model ought to be even better. So all these updates add up to an impressive new model I’m looking forward to trying out in snow. In my opinion, the price is fair for what you get. I bought the bare tool for $499, which is the same price as their older model SNT2110, so that made my purchase decision easier. It’s not often a new model comes out without a price increase!
