Ego battery

My blower works great but there's a point halfway through the battery when it shuts off like it's drained, then after the red light quits blinking it will run briefly and shut off again. Repeat this process 5 or 6 times and it then works for the last half of the battery charge.

It’s big, it’s heavy, and it’s long lasting!

My three year old Ego self-propelled mower came with a 7.5 battery that was just enough to finish our front and back yard during the first year. Living in Florida, a thick St. Augustine lawn probably causes the mower to work harder than other lawn types. By the second year, the 7.5 was no longer lasting the time needed to move the entire yard. By the third year, the original 7.5 and a year old 5.0 were barely enough to mow the entire yard.Entered this 12.0 monster! It is nice to ow the entire yard and find that I still have two full bars of power remaining. As hot as it is in Florida during the summer, any less time needlessly walking to replace the battery is that much more time NOT outside in the heat.Wait until they put it on sale though before purchasing, as this battery costs as much as a whole new mower with a 7.5 battery. The price of these batteries are like buying a new gas powered Honda lawnmower every few years, so not so sure if it’s better for the environment. It definitely isn’t better for the wallet, hence the 4 stars.

Love EGO

This battery does my lawn, trimming, and blowing all in one charge. I'm so happy with it.

Got a second one for my mower

My EGO mower with the original 45 minute battery was not enough power for my lawn. So I picked up this one for the extra cutting time and I can have the extra charged and swap out the batteries when it become depleted and keep on cutting.

Something is wrong and continues to be wrong

I am one who expects my top-of-the-line blower to run at its full capacity for hours. Why else would one buy a powerful unit at such a price and "warranty". After 6 months using two 6 Ah batteries I noticed some apparent issues where the unit would randomly shutoff and then be difficult to start again. You only have two choices, change the fully charged batter with a different one or keep reinserting it over and over until the unit runs again for a few minutes. I thought, maybe I was stressing the 6 Ah batteries. So, I got a 12 Ah. It was heavy as heck. Experienced users will know Ego does not fully understand that metal can bend, so their strap will consistently fail with a heavy battery. I got the backpack next. Still found problems with it stopping frequently. Ego decided to replace the blower. I've had the replacement for a year or so. Guess what's happening. Yes, the 12 Ah with backpack is failing. I've done some research. It seems Ego's batteries are known to have this problem. It's been known since day 1. They are doing nothing about it. Once your warranty is over, it's no longer their problem. It would be nice if they address the problem. But, like all companies, it's based on profit and not quality. They will not claim responsibility after the warranty. They know and consumers know who is at fault. I've invested a lot now. Even as unprofessional as this is, you can only get worse than Ego. I hope they decide to make improvements. Meanwhile, expect to replace your highly overpriced batteries and equipment every few years or go back to gas and get 20 years of life for 1/4 the price.
