EGO CS1804 18" 56-Volt Cordless Chainsaw with 5.0Ah Battery and Charger

After four days in the backyard of tree limbs and heavy brush, cutting with this, I am quite impressed. The power of the five amp lasts quite a bit. The real test will be the summer on felling some large trees.

I give it 4 stars for power and ease of use. I am omitting the fifth star for now because the oiler does not seem to be working. I have used the saw twice now with about 20 real heavy cuts ((ie. 14 in oak trees) and it has not used a drop. I am having to pour oil directly onto the bar.

Bought this chain saw because it was battery operated, also I have other EGO tools that are dependable. Used it today for the first time. Was impressed at the speed of the cut and the sharpness of the blade. I tried the 14" chain saw before, and was not impressed at the low rpm's (6800) vs the (11000) from this unit, what a difference. Gives a quick smooth cut. Very little vibration. The only con is the weight, due to the battery. I understand it, because you need the larger battery to run the chainsaw for any length of time. I can live with that. Glad I upgraded to the 18" from the 14", what a difference. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

The convenience and power of this saw left me impressed. It’s first job was to buck a freshly cut 55’ poplar that had a 26” diameter at the base. I got 6 cuts starting from the base of the tree on a single charge of the included 5A battery. As the diameter shrunk, I got up to a dozen cuts on a single charge. It cut through limbs like butter. The Ego fast charger replenished the battery in 45m and if I were in any rush, I would have purchased additional 5A or 7.5A batteries so that I could keep cutting without interruption. This is a well built machine and is comfortable to handle. Tightening the chain is easy and viewing/filling the chain oil reservoir is simple. As a property owner with the occasional need to cut wood, this is a perfect fit for me. I won’t miss mixing oil/gas, the exhaust or the need to pull-start it a million times while I play with the choke! The Ego power chain saw has more than enough power for my needs and the fact that it’s part of a larger tool system is the icing on the cake.

Cutting dead trees isn't a seasonal thing for my property, it's weekly. This battery powered saw has been able to cut everything my gas powered one's have. Different saws for different reasons, but if I need something cut off the road quickly, this is my "go to" chainsaw. Great saw for an experienced chainsaw operator. Most important things for cutting wood are having some experience, & a sharp chain. No fumes, less noise, & no gas mix is definitely a benefit!
