This 4500 is replacaing the Ego 1510t. Wore the bump head out. The 4500 is built well with carbon shaft. Big bump head which gives a 17.5 swath. The head isn't the best as I have to bump several times to release string. It has 3 speeds. Speed 1 is slow and wouldn't be used unless around something delicate, speed 2 is my gear I primary use but if the string starts to get a little short it also doesn't have good power, speed 3 has plenty of power but I know I will run through battery quickly so only use certain circumstances. Compared to 1510 speed 1 & 2 is weaker on 4500 but speed 3 is noticeably more power. Its been a week and have used every day so far so good. Have a Echo 2620 which is a great trimmer for backup. If a battery tool will do the job than I'll use those and save gas.

The best money can buy as far as electric weedeatimg goes..... you can change the head to a blade also which comes in handy

More power & torque than my other eGO trimmers for sure. It has a fairly loud whine I'm not fond of. Need to wear the ears when using this trimmer... Also it has been difficult to bump out the line. Hopefully this eases up with use and the next round of line. And unlike my other trimmers it spins counter-clockwise, requiring different techniques for some work.

I really like this 2nd generation string trimmer. The 17.5 inch cut is nice and I feel it cuts better than the 1st generation of commercial string trimmer (STX3800). The 3 speed selector is one I actually use. I haven’t found much use for it on the other tools I have but this one is used on the regular. I like how the trigger is variable speed too. The safety switch on the trigger is my preferred design. I like how speed 1 not only drops the max rpm but it also drops the minimum rpm. You can’t get the same minimum rpm in the other 2 speeds. This gives you more options on the speed range. I think the guard is an improvement over the previous design because it gets in the way less. It just tends to throw more clippings towards my legs which is a slight inconvenience. The head design is now a quick reloading design. The rated amount of line it can hold is 26’ or 3’ less than the rating on the gen 1 commercial head. I can’t give much on the lifespan of the 2nd gen commercial head but if it is anything like the 1st gen commercial head it will last a long time. The 2nd gen head added support for .12 diameter line in addition to the .095. This is a nice option to have for more demanding tasks. One thing I was slightly disappointed with was the lack of metal trigger and motor housing that the 1st gen has. It wasn't a deal breaker though. I would say the power is on par with the previous gen. Neither lack torque.
